This week on Balance we’re talking about career reinvention and taking risks to achieve your business dreams. We’ve all heard the saying ‘If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life‘ but when it comes to starting your own business, entrepreneur Naomi Simson says you also need to ask yourself this question: Will other people love what I do?
In 2001 Naomi Simson invested $25,000 to begin an online experience gift company called RedBalloon which she ran out of her house. Today she is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country, has released several books and appears on the popular Network Ten program Shark Tank.
She won the 2008 national Telstra Business Womens Awards for Innovation. Her company RedBalloon was voted as one of Australia’s Best Places to Work by BRW 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. She has also been selected as a LinkedIn Influencer (now with more than 750,000 subscribers).
In the above interview, Naomi talks about how a request to write a blog led to her churning out 30,000 words on the topic of ‘advice to my younger self’…which inevitably led to the creation of her bestselling new book Live What You Love.
