A word from Deb

You’re dieting and exercising, so why aren’t you seeing weight loss?

Exercising, eating healthy food and finding balance are a priority and daily passion for media personality and brand ambassador Deborah Hutton. Case in point – this website you love to explore!

But despite her best efforts, Deborah’s busy work schedule and hectic social calendar at the end of 2016, left her in need of a new weight loss and weight management strategy.

Balance signed a new partnership with Wesley LifeShape Clinic in December 2016 and a few weeks later she found herself in Brisbane, interviewing cardiologists, dietitians, psychologists and exercise physiologists.

Their approach resonated with Deb and she volunteered to personally trial the three-month Wesley LifeShape Clinic course in February and has seen ongoing success.

In the video above, Deborah talks about her personal weight loss journey and introduces her Wesley LifeShape Clinic Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist, Robynne.

“I thought I’d lose maybe five or six kilos. If I could reach five I’d be excited,” said Deborah.

“It’s been six weeks since we finished and I’ve gone on to lose all up about seven or eight kilos. Which is so much more than I thought I would,” she said.

Weight Loss – it’s not just diet and exercise

With increasing obesity rates and the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in Australia, Wesley LifeShape Clinic programs aim to provide clients with the tools they need to achieve a healthy and active life.

Our programs achieve improvements in personal health and disease prevention through personalised dietary, medical, exercise and psychological consultations. The tailored nature of our medical treatment means many patients can greatly improve their health and quality of life, as well as significantly lessen the likelihood of chronic disease. “A lot of people come in because they want that weight loss initially but they realised and they’ve come to a point where they know that the weight loss is much more complex than just what they’re eating and how much exercise they’re doing,” said Robynne.

“In a lot of circumstances, people are doing a lot of the right things. They’re eating well, they’re exercising regularly but things just aren’t in sync and they’re not consistent for some reason,” said Robynne.

“We work towards establishing that sustainable change,” she said.

According to Robynne although Deborah’s eating and exercise habits were healthy, the issues around her weight gain related to her demanding social schedule.

“That’s where we had to do the most work in terms of balancing because that was what was holding you back,” said Robynne.

Next Robynne talks to Deborah about why it’s harder to lose weight as you get older.
