A word from Deb

Why do we struggle to lose weight as we get older?

By

For many women over 50, the tried and true weight loss practices from their 30’s are no longer effective. So Deborah asks the LifeShape Clinic’s Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist, Robynne why women (and men) struggle to lose weight as they start to get older.

“The whole weight loss scenario is complex and there never is just one solution,” Robynne said.

Menopause is a factor in weight loss

Robynne says it’s always important to check in with your GP to monitor your blood and health during menopause and stay consistent to see how it could be impacting your health.

Robynne says when people finish the LifeShape Program, they don’t just send you on your way.

“There are different strategies for different clients but we have what we call follow-on programs,” Robynne said.

“As they progress in terms of maintaining their weight loss that frequency decreases.”

Robynne says that some clients also set themselves a “trigger weight” to return to the LifeShape Clinic.
