How Jenny learned to love exercise

We can all come up with lots of excuses to avoid exercise, especially at the beginning of a new weight loss program. However, the first step is to disassociate any previous ideas that you have about what exercise is. Exercise doesn’t have to mean sprinting up a hill for an hour. Exercise refers to any planned physical activity for health and fitness benefits. The key is finding forms of exercise you enjoy, and that fit into your lifestyle just a few times a week.

Do you like running, walking or cycling? Do you like to exercise in a gym or the outdoors? Do you prefer to exercise by yourself or join team sports, classes or social sports? Think outside the square and you will find lots of options that you will love.

Jenny was not always a fan of exercise. Before commencing her LifeShape program, her only exercise was gardening. However she made good use of her FitBit activity tracker (given to every new client), and has found walking has become a pleasant experience.

“I loved being able to keep track, count steps, check my heart rate,” says Jenny. “I started out only doing 20-30 minute sessions, now I am up to 60 minutes regularly.”

Jenny’s dedication achieved some amazing results, including a 10.7kg weight loss. She now enjoys walking the many challenging tracks around her home, and abroad on her travels to Asia and Europe.

Since my weight loss, I’m sleeping better and have so much more energy,” says Jenny. “I am looking forward to [travelling]!”
