A word from Deb

My health goal in 2017: How to lose 6kg and maintain it

By

Deborah Hutton says 2016 was a tough year for her health and she “stacked” on quite a few kilos due to her busy schedule and social engagements.

In this video, Deb talks candidly about how she felt and the new year resolutions she made to get her health back on track.

“As the year (2016) progressed… I was adding a little bit more and a little bit more,” Deb said.

“Then December came and December was just insane socially. All I was doing was going to lunch and dinner. Anyway, I turned into a 55-year-old frump. I had my birthday and I looked at myself and I was just disgusted and I thought, enough is enough.

“Health wise I also wasn’t great, I had a huge year of allergies which wasn’t like me, I was run down, I was grumpy and it was time to draw a line through the sand.”

Deborah said her line in the sand was her annual retreat to Koh Samui Island in Thailand but just before the year ended,  Balance teamed up with Wesley LifeShape Clinic for a new brand partnership.  A few weeks later she found herself in Brisbane, interviewing cardiologists, dieticians, psychologists and exercise physiologists.

“These guys are really geared around helping people shift weight and do it in such a way that it’s medically done, it’s supervised and it’s a guaranteed plan,” Deb said.

“I interviewed the entire team, these guys seriously know what they are doing. In my mind, I thought when I get back from my wellness retreat I’m going to do that.”

Wesley LifeShape Clinic recently opened up a Sydney location and Deborah, true to her word, started the program three weeks ago.

“So I rock up after I’ve come back from my wellness retreat and I’m thinking I should lose probably another 3kg.

“Robynne sends me off to have a DEXA scan which is basically a MRI for your body which tells you your bone density,  gives you your metabolic rate and is basically a scan on where I sit healthwise and how much weight I could lose.”

Deb was surprised to learn she could potentially lose another six kilograms and challenged Wesley LifeShape Clinic Sydney Manager Robynne Jeftha to help her do that with a plan that fit around her hectic social calendar.

Stay tuned for Deb’s next update later this week on how she is progressing on the plan.

Hi Edna, thanks for the feedback. The videos sometimes stop to “buffer” (ie catch up and download the next part ready for you to view). It usually happens when your internet connection is a bit slower than usual or the page is still loading. I’m not sure if there is anything we can do to speed them up but I’ll ask our tech team. It would help if we knew if you were using a computer (mac or pc), phone, ipad or tablet.
