Yves Saint Laurent first created the “Saharienne,” or safari jacket in 1967 as a one-off design for a photo shoot for Vogue Paris and debuted it in a runway show of the same year.
Saint Laurent’s reworking of a men’s jacket into elegant womenswear’s became an immediate success and was later available in a ready-to-wear version at his revolutionary ready-made boutique Rive Gauche and sold like wild fire.

To this day, safari style remains a revolving fashion trend and is currently one of the hottest looks of the season. The beauty about safari style is it’s versatility – from the boardroom to the beach, you can conjure up your very own urban safari.
