If you’re a fledgeling business or thinking of starting your own business and need a dose of inspiration to give purpose to your passion, this week is for you. Deborah catches up with Lorraine Murphy, thought leader, entrepreneur, media personality, founder of The Remarkables Group and now the author of her first book, Remarkability: Be So Good They Can’t Ignore You.
You certainly can’t ignore the palpable energy of this award winning influencer, who talks to Deborah about her journey from a town in Ireland to an infinity pool on Richard Branson’s Necker Island.
Lorraine began her career in PR and Communications and four years ago, she created the very first dedicated talent agency for bloggers in Australia called “The Remarkables Group”.
“It was a new space, and still is a very new space,” Lorraine said. “So we are constantly educating both sides of the coin on where the space is going.”
We interviewed Lorraine in September 2016 and as of October the same year, The Remarkables Group has evolved again. After multiple changes in the blogging world, Lorraine has seen a new gap in the market and has moved the businesses into a consulting role to help brands develop their influencer strategies.
The ever-evolving shape of The Remarkables Group shows us Lorraine putting into action her own advice from her book “What happens when it doesn’t go to plan”.
“We all have a higher self: the best version of ourselves that knows exactly what is good for us.”
“Try and see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.”
Lorraine Murphy is the Founder of The Remarkables Group – the first dedicated influencer talent agency in Australia, which launched in May 2012 and went on to secure over $1M in revenue in its first 12 months. The Remarkables Group recently changed focus and has become the resident expert in remarkable influencer-brand relationships.
Lorraine is originally from Dublin, Ireland and spent the first eight years of her career in PR and Communications strategy.
Lorraine was named one of BRW’s Five Young Entrepreneurs to Watch and one of Dynamic Business’s Young Guns. She has featured frequently in media, including The Project, Sunrise, Sydney Morning Herald, Collective Hub, Marie Claire, Sky News, ABC News and The Australian.
Lorraine’s first book – Remarkability: Be So Good They Can’t Ignore You – was released in June 2016 with Hachette Australia.
