THE LIPSTICK COLOUR ALL OVER 40 WOMEN NEED FOR FULLER, GLOWING LIPS

February 1, 2019 by Esma Versace

As you age, your lips can lose fullness and form a thinner appearance.

So when it comes to choosing lipstick for mature lips, shade selection is vital to make lips look fuller. If you love a bright lip by all means go for it, however for a universally flattering flush, neutral shades are generally more flattering and youthful – and choosing one staple shade for day and night makes your daily beauty routine quicker and easier!

Beauty tip: The first step to healthy, fuller lips is to apply a hydrating balm daily. Keep one in your bag and apply as needed throughout the day.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT NEUTRAL FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

  • Neutrals and nude shades for mature women are completely different to younger women which are usually light and beige in tone – and on mature skins are very unforgiving and can make teeth look yellow.
  • Mature nudes and neutrals are soft shades include caramel, peaches, roses that provide a natural flush to the lip (rather than a ‘painted on’ effect).
  • The general rule of thumb to find the perfect neutral or nude shade, choose a colour that is two shades darker than your natural lip.

LIGHT/FAIR SKINTONE

Best neutrals for fair and fair skin tones include peaches, apricots, light or rose pinks.

MEDIUM SKIN TONES

Beige nudes similar to a dusty rose will flatter medium tones. Avoid cool undertones that run the risk of washing out your complexion.

OLIVE OR LIGHT BROWN

Caramel-toned nudes with peachy bases complement olive or light brown skin tones.

DARK SKIN TONES

Warm shades flatter dark skins as does nude/neutral shades in the plum family. Avoid matte formulas and opt for creamy, hydrating or gloss finishes.
