A word from Deb

Something’s in the air

Who doesn’t want to take a holiday??  It gives you a chance to reset, open your mind, clear out the clutter and generally appreciate life. And now thanks to the internet and the collective generosity of the world we live in, it just got easier and more fun to do!

Airbnb is a modern phenomenon. Earlier this year I was invited to San Francisco for the latest Airbnb global marketing campaign and was completely blown away not only by the company and its huge success but the culture they’ve created.

For those of you who are not fully up to speed, Airbnb is the ‘Facebook’ of home sharing/holiday letting. You sign up for a profile and then you can connect with other “hosts” to literally travel the world, staying in other people’s homes, apartments and spare bedrooms.

You can become a host yourself and rent out your house or spare bedroom or you can just choose to be a traveller experiencing different parts of the world while meeting some interesting ‘locals’.

Airbnb started in 2008 by Brian Cheskey and Joe Gebbia – two tech guys who had bills to pay and a space to share. When Brian and Joe decided to rent out an “air mattress” in their San Francisco apartment to travellers…Airbnb was born. Today the company is worth $10 billion dollars and is revolutionising the way we travel.

We know by listening to you that travel is one of the top three desires of our followers here at Balance but what is the greatest barrier to achieving your travel dreams?  MONEY

Airbnb is a fantastic way to supplement your income by renting out a spare room, granny flat or even better, rent out your whole house while you pack your bags and head off on your own adventure. What not to like about that!

So when Airbnb approached us about partnering with Balance to help educate people like yourself on how to use the service, how could we say no?

So we are thrilled to announce Airbnb as a new sponsored partner and in the coming weeks we’ll be interviewing hosts, travellers and the staff about how you get more out of this “shared economy” to create the lifestyle that you want.

I know you’re looking for ways to fund the holidays you want, so come with me on a journey into the Airbnb business, live like a local and bring the world to your doorstep.
