I’m so happy to share with you this week, my interview with Therese Kerr. Not only is Therese a walking encyclopaedia on all things organic, she truly lives and breathes a healthy lifestyle, and is also a remarkable business woman who has branched out on her own to fulfil her dream of producing The Divine Company – a premium Australian beauty and personal care collection.
Having supported and nurtured her daughter Miranda’s dreams for many years, it was inspiring to listen to Therese’s passion for empowering and educating us to live as chemically-free as possible, and also the importance of looking for the “Certified Organic” label.
Speaking of that famous daughter of hers, I asked Therese how she navigates what I think is one of the most challenging relationships of all – the Mother/Daughter one. Therese explained that she was just 18 years old and pregnant with Miranda, when her own mum passed away. Her husband John was only 21 years old himself and so family has always been important and Therese stressed how much she values her relationship not only with Miranda, but also with her son Matthew.
Therese’s insight into how she has kept her relationship with her daughter solid, has lessons for us all … “What’s been key is allowing her to grow up and just be who she is without restricting, while holding the space for her to keep her grounded. That’s our role as parents for both our children. Especially, with a child who is so often in the spotlight – if we can’t be real with her, then who can she be real with? And, if she can’t turn to us for advice, then who can she turn to?”
As Therese shared there is so much love in her family and this shone through when she teared up talking about her 33 year marriage to her husband John. Listen HERE for more on why she is so grateful to have found her soulmate when she was only 16.
Loved my time with Therese, her openness and warmth was refreshing, and she is such a great advertisement for living an organic life, with an energy and vitality that is tangible. Hope you enjoy the clips too!
