Love yourself to love others

Cynthia Morton says loving yourself can feel very “mung bean” but it’s one of the most important romances you can have in your life – particularly after midlife.

She says your 20s and 30s are about building your life, but midlife is about putting away for your “emotional superannuation”.

“A lot of people have trouble being on their own,” she says.

“But we need to be taking time out by ourselves and for ourselves because the only romance you can rely on is the one with yourself.”
