Your third chakra or energy centre is the solar plexus chakra. This chakra is concerned with willpower and purpose. It is the power centre of your body, and is thus responsible for your confidence, self-identity, courage, sense of fun, optimism and drive. Whilst the base and sacral chakras are concerned with your physical and emotional survival, respectively, the solar plexus chakra is focused on the more transformative qualities of change and growth.
As with any deficiency, a deficiency in the solar plexus chakra means that you will display weakness or avoidance with the characteristics relevant to this chakra. In terms of physical symptoms, you are likely to experience a lack of physical energy. This means that you will feel tired and sluggish, leading to inactivity. These symptoms might lead you to be attracted to stimulants. Digestive problems and a collapsed middle are common complaints amongst people with a deficiency in the solar plexus chakra. You might also be physically sensitive to colder temperatures.
In adding to draining your physical energy, a deficient solar plexus chakra will also result in depleted emotional energy. In fact, your physical symptoms such as sluggishness and inactivity are the result of your emotional symptoms, particularly feelings of shame around being judged. These feelings unfortunately lead to a fear of failure, leading to a failure to act in the first place. Ironically, this passivity will cause you to then fail before you even start. As such, you will likely find yourself suffering from low self-esteem, no willpower, and a lack of self-discipline. Therefore, you more than likely will not follow through with things. In this case, other people will tend to regard you as being unreliable and even emotionally cold.
In terms of an archetype, people who have a lack in the solar plexus chakra see themselves as passive victims. If you see yourself as a passive victim or a servant and blame others, it’s probably because you have given your power to an external source, such as another person. Because you are unable to give yourself positive affirmations, you seek to please others: you work hard to gain acknowledgement from them. Your self-pity makes you depend on other people for recognition and approval. You invest in the qualities and power that you seen in others and wish were true for you, thereby expending a great deal of your energy. Being weak willed in this way leaves you vulnerable to being easily manipulated by other people.
It’s important to balance your solar plexus chakra in order to fire up your confidence, drive and purpose. Some ways to do this include incorporating the colour yellow in your life, and engaging in all sorts of exercise and physical activity to enable you to reconnect with your body. And taking some risks!
