It’s common on a weight loss journey to fluctuate. One minute you’re on a streak, losing and feeling great. The next, work gets busier than usual, exercise grinds to a halt and those kilos slowly creep back on.
In order to make your weight loss stick long term, it’s important to know your lifestyle and have the right tools available to help combat the yo-yo effect.
As someone who admits to always dieting around her busy schedule, Deborah Hutton talks with her personal LifeShape Clinic Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist, Robynne about how to lose weight effectively and maintain it without losing the lifestyle you love.
According to Robynne, the key is to create a lifestyle for life.
Lose weight with a lifestyle for life
“What you do to lose the weight needs to be quite similar to what you do to maintain the weight or you’re just going to bounce back again,” said Robynne.
“If you do something far removed from what your every day would be then it’s not going to be realistic to expect that you’ll maintain that weight longer term,” said Robynne.
“But if you’re using a lot of foods you’re used to eating and basically building on from that you’ll be able to maintain that weight,” said Robynne.
With her busy professional and social life, Deborah now focuses on portion control as a way to help lose weight without losing her lifestyle.
