In our series of videos, Katrina talks to Deborah about what makes a good therapist, our approaches to spirituality and how the energy that is our intuition connects us all.

How often should you see a clairvoyant?

Throughout different cultures, spirits are seen as guardians that offer guidance in our daily lives. Spirituality expert and therapist Katrina Cavanough says whatever name we give to these spirits, ultimately they make up the energy that helps us.

“What they do from my understanding in my life, they’ll do things like plop a little thought into your head. I know this is out there, but you’ll be going along and you’ll be thinking of something and you’ll think that’s your thought,” Katrina says.

“They just give the energy, like an impression, and you pick up on it at a thought level.

“They will pave the way for you sometimes. They will guide other people to say and do things and create opportunities for you.”

Why do you believe the spirits communicate with us?

Katrina Cavanough talks about her experience with the spirits and why she believes that our loved ones communicate with us from the “other-side”.

Can anyone be a medium and intuitive?

Spirituality expert Katrina Cavanough says we can all be intuitive if we make the decision to reach out to someone who has passed away and start a conversation.

“You’ll be very surprised that if you just sit very, very, quietly – meditation really – you just sit very quietly and allow yourself to begin the conversation.”

Katrina says it’s natural to then doubt that connection and conversation, but “the worst case scenario is that you’ve had a conversation with yourself”.

“Which is not a bad thing, and the best case scenario is that you’ve made a beautiful connection,” she says.

Finding a good therapist

When it comes to finding a good therapist, Katrina Cavanough says, from her experience working as a therapist in many areas, it is good to “shop around”.

“You find someone who is absolutely right for you because you are about to share the most sacred part of yourself with that person,” Katrina says.

It is about feeling comfortable and secure so that your therapist will not only keep your information confidential but offer the support you need in the long run.

“Ideally, ask them about their qualifications. Ask them about the kind of work that they’ve done,” she says.

“But really it’s not about the information that they give you. It is about the feeling you are experiencing with that person.”

Katrina joined Balance as a programs coach in 2014. Discovering Wisdom is available on our Balance Online Learning Platform.

I have long been a fan if Katrina’s, and have waited eagerly for the book to be released. After 30years of ignoring the spiritual side of myself, I am now attending spiritual development workshops on a weekly basis, and feel that the opportunity to read this book would further enhance not only my own spiritual journey but my understanding of life and connectedness to others.

I saw Katrina this morning on T.V. and listened to her speak about cyber bullying. She is the first person that has made any sense in my 30+ years of teaching. I’m going back to school hoping to introduce Katrina’s ideas to our students and parents.
