Isolation or Solitude

By

“ISOLATION is the worst possible counselor.”

I agree wholeheartedly with Miguel de Unamuno’s quote.

SOLITUDE is about healthy time out to recharge our head, heart and body, (our whole self) with love.

ISOLATION is about unhealthy time out with our ego (head and body) depleting our energy, immobilizing ourselves with fear. It is a heartless act towards ourselves.

We know its ISOLATION if we binge on distractions like work, booze, drugs, sex, spending and misusing food and exercise. When we over stimulate our ego (head/thoughts and body/actions) in order to avoid what is really going on in our heart we are ISOLATING not just from the world, the greater concern is that we are hiding from our truth and ourselves. The habit of ISOLATION corrodes our confidence and our dreams for a better more beautiful life.

We know its SOLITUDE when we honour the beauty in our own nature and sometimes with Mother Nature’s quiet visitors to our world. Pets, butterflies, birds even little ladybirds that bring a smile to our hearts reminding us to look for gentle beauty in our world. SOLITUDE is a gift we give to ourselves. Like arranging a play date with ourselves, by ourselves. The habit of creating intimate time out from the world unapologetically, to chisel away at our heartfelt dreams and fill up our hearts happy tank with genuine joy. Our Emotional Fitness is nourished in SOLITUDE as our hearts muscles of confidence and self-respect get time for a decent, uninterrupted workout.

ISOLATION is a word to express the loneliness and pain we feel when we self abandon when left in our own company. Whereas SOLITUDE is a word to express the enjoyment and peace we feel when we come home to our own heart when choosing to be in our own company.

Pets and all of Mother Natures creatures are expert teachers and perfect companions for us humans learning how to master self entertainment which is the art of quiet SOLITUDE; for they only know language of the heart and will love us in all our private quirky silliness! Children know this very well; it is we adults that forget!

Let’s ensure today that if the need for time out, due to overwhelm, arises that we refuel our head, heart and body lovingly with joyous SOLITUDE? Let deliberately create some fun for ourselves and build not drain our self-respect as we invest in quiet time with ourselves?

ISOLATION is the enemy of self-improvement, it is a dream killer. Whereas SOLITUDE is our friend and a dream nurturer.
