This week on Balance we’re talking about one of our favourite subjects – food! We’ll be featuring clips from some of Australia’s bests chefs, as well as one and only Rick Stein.
When he’s not overseeing his award-winning restaurants in Sydney and Brisbane, Matt Moran likes to hit the road and meet Australia’s food producers. He has been documenting his journey as part of a TV series called Paddock to Plate which is currently in its second season, airing each week on the Lifestyle Channel on Foxtel.
Matt says he and his crew clocked more than 20,000 kilometres travelling around South Australia and Western Australia for the new eight-part series which is full of amazing food, larger-than-life characters and life-changing experiences.
“In this new series I get to swim with 50 kilogram Blue Fin tuna off the Eyre Peninsula, muster cattle in Derby in Western Australia and catch mud crabs out of the side of a river with an aboriginal elder in Cape Leveque – and then I get to cook with all this amazing fresh food,” Matt said.
Matt says Australia is bursting with incredible farmers and growers and he feels privileged to be able to showcase some of them on the show.
“I’ve made amazing friendships with some really beautiful people through this series. Some of these farmers have been doing it so tough – year after year,” he said.
Meanwhile the first season of Paddock to Plate, which won Most Outstanding Lifestyle Programme at the 12th annual ASTRA awards, has just been released on DVD.
