FIVE EASY BEAUTY HACKS FOR BEAUTIFUL LONG-WEEKEND HAIR

January 24, 2019 by Esma Versace

We all love the look of sun-kissed and tousled waves but long days on the beach can leave hair dry and damaged.

If you’re planning a beach getaway this long weekend, these five easy beauty hacks will ensure hair remains healthy and shiny all day – and night – long.

PRE-BEACH

Sun exposure from long days at the beach can leave hair dry and brittle. Before heading to the beach, protect hair from harsh UV rays with a quick spritz with heat protector – it also helps to prevent colour fading.

WET HAIR CARE

Hair is weakest when it’s wet and much easier to damage. To gently detangle wet hair, use a wide-tooth comb (or your fingers). Work in sections – start with the ends of your hair, then the middle to the ends, and finally roots-to-tips.

Mason Pearson detangling comb $39.95, David Jones Tangle Teezer $21.99, Priceline

FROM BEACH TO BAR

If you’re rushing from beach to bar, recreate a natural beach tousle with a spritz of sea-salt-infused texturising spray to add texture and volume to hair with the added benefit of adding moisture lost from the sun and sea.

French Girl Sea Spray $18, Mecca

PROTECT, REPAIR AND ILLUMINATE

Beach life can strip and split hair. Reduce the effects of chlorine and salt water with a deep cleansing shampoo followed by a conditioner or cream to rejuvenate hair exposed to sun.

Kérastase Bain Après-Soleil Shampoo, $40, and Kérastase Soleil CC Crème, $45, Adore Beauty

SEXY EVENING HAIR

A sexy, tousled undo goes hand-in-hand with beach life. Après-beach create a quick and sexy updo with a texturising spray that offers natural looking hold and texture. Finish by pulling out some soft wisps around the face to soften and flatter.
