The heart chakra is your fourth chakra or energy centre. As one might expect from the chakra associated with the heart, it is all about love and sharing. It’s about unselfish acceptance and unconditional love for others, as well as universal unconditional love, compassion and forgiveness. It’s about harmony and peace. A healthy heart chakra means that you life will be one of love, harmony, happiness, and selflessness.
As you might expect, a deficient heart chakra means that you will experience weakness or avoidance in these facets of your life. A deficiency or lack in the heart chakra will affect how you relate to yourself and, in turn, how you relate to others. Specifically, a deficient heart chakra will leave you feeling lonely, isolated and depressed. You will be critical and intolerant of yourself and feel afraid of intimacy and relationships. Even though you might find yourself craving the energy of love, you won’t want to take the risks that might be necessary to acquire that love in your life. So instead of moving forward, you might find yourself living in the past: your energy will be focused on holding onto old wounds and old relationships.
These internal emotions determine not only your connection with yourself, but also your connection with others. You might be anti-social and withdrawn. There will be a sense of coldness that will cause you to withdraw from love and relationships. This is because you are withholding love and affection not just from yourself, but from others as well. This lack of empathy for yourself and for others will in turn lead to cynicism and bitterness. Other people might view you as being intolerant, critical and judgemental in nature. You might find yourself looking to others for love, hoping that you can draw strength from someone else in order to heal your own wounds. In short, you will display quite narcissistic behaviour.
This syndrome of symptoms will express itself as the actor archetype. The love that you extend to yourself and to others will be conditional. Because of the restrictions placed on the love that you received, you will then in turn only be able to love other people in a limited way. You will judge and criticise whatever doesn’t fit into your framework.
The best way to balance a deficient heart chakra is to love yourself and love others. Love is the greatest healing power that there is. Incorporate the colour green into your life as you engage in activities that tug at your heartstrings and introduce a sense of tenderness into your life.
