When was the last time you looked in the mirror?
Did you just notice the wrinkles, dark circles and frizzy hair? Or did you really see yourself?
In this clip, Shannah Kennedy and Lyndall Mitchell discuss the mirror technique, a confidence building exercise and one of the 16 essential skills outlined in their book Chaos to Calm.
“As we get older we move away from the mirror, and we have all the life events come into play and we lose a big connection with who we are,” said Shannah.
“We live in the age of distraction, people cannot focus very well anymore on their work, on their relationships, a whole mess of distraction is there because they haven’t got clarity,” she said.
“The book is really designed to help you find a clear vision and give you a lot of the tools to help you reconnect with your wonderful, amazing self and take control back,” she said.
Lyndall believes that reconnecting and rediscovering your sense of self, requires looking at your values and what is important in your life in order to move forward and make decisions.
“When we own our self and who we are again and we’re reconnected we actually give without resentment. Because our tank is full, we’re confident and we make great decisions, we have boundaries and the ability to say no,” said Shannah.
The mirror technique is a confidence building exercise.
Connecting with yourself, accepting yourself and loving yourself are the primary purposes of mirror work.
It is not someone else’s job to fill your tank; it’s up to you to keep your tank full.
