With a mentor collective featuring Oprah Windfrey, Tony Robbins, Sir Richard Branson and Steve Jobs, Deborah quizzes Lorraine Murphy about the common traits of successful people and what she believes sets them apart from the crowd.
In her book Remarkability: Be So Good They Can’t Ignore You, Lorraine shows how she has drawn inspiration from these mentors and how she applies their advice and experience to her career and business practices.
Firstly, Lorraine believes one of the common traits of successful people is their sense of certainty.
“Really strong thought leaders create a sense of certainty. They might be facing into something unknown, but they create so much certainty around them that you will trust them and will follow them wherever they go,” said Lorraine.
Secondly, confidence and self-belief.
And thirdly, humility.
“These uber, uber successful people – they are that successful because they are so humble”.
“They are very real and very humble and grateful for the opportunities they have had,” she said.
Speaking of opportunities, in this clip, Lorraine recounts her recent to visit Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island to hear him speak as part of a Business Chicks group.
“He’s so humble,” said Lorraine.
