With only a few weeks until Spring Racing Carnival and Melbourne Cup, it’s time to consider race day makeup and hair looks.
To ensure hair and makeup stays intact all day long, try these beauty tips and tricks. (If you’re over-40, don’t miss my race day makeup tips here.)
Makeup looks better on well nourished skin. The night before prep skin with a serum, eye cream and moisturiser. On race day morning apply a moisturiser with SPF.
Carry blotting papers in your clutch to take away shine.
Use a good quality whitening toothpaste the day before and on the morning of the races to brighten and freshen teeth.
A setting powder will help foundation last longer and a great way to avoid shine from race-day heat.
A waterproof mascara will prevent run-off from perspiration and squinting in the hot sun.
A spray of face mist before you leave home will help to set makeup. If you have room in your handbag, fill a small travel-size bottle with mist and spray during the day to keep makeup radiant.
Race day hair to last the day needs preparation. Start with a moisturising serum or strong-hold mousse and finish with a strong-hold, good quality hairspray.
Beauty tip: Wash hair the night before to hold style better.
IN YOUR BAG
Don’t forget to take a few band aids for blisters, extra bobby pins and a few safety pins in case of a frock disaster.
