Over the last five years, Balance has featured many already-accomplished, female guests who have taken the leap to write a book and become published authors. From life coaches to comedians, the list is long and impressive.
Writing a book is often a very personal journey and the exercise can be a long and isolating one, sometimes over a number of years. It takes commitment, dedication and focus. From these special guests, we have learned there are different methods and motivations for setting out with the goal of authoring a book. There does however, seem to be a common theme – to talk about personal experiences in order to help or educate others in similar situations. Some are written in a deeply personal, intimate style and others have taken a more light-hearted approach to their subject. The themes are diverse, from biographies, grief in motherhood, personal growth, women in business, menopause, to recipe books and fiction.
We have put together a collection of Balance guests who have reinvented themselves as authors or gone on to become successful authors, as an extension of their successful careers:
Jo Ettles, Jane Matthews, Jean Kittson, Kathy Lette, Lorraine Murphy, Deborah Hutton, Jane Turner, Susi Prescott, Mary Coustas, Lisa Messenger, Ondine Sherman, Katrina Cavanough, Shannah Kennedy, Cynthia Morton, Tara Moss, Stephanie Darling, Jane Kennedy, Megan Dalla-Camina
