It would be easy to imagine that Matt Moran doesn’t enjoy cooking at home, given his day-job as one of Australia’s most popular chefs – but he says there’s nothing he loves more than preparing delicious food for his family and friends.
“I probably cook more at home now than I ever have before. I love entertaining on weekends and it’s not uncommon for me to have friends around and spend 4-5 hours in the kitchen on a Sunday morning just doing what I love. I find cooking at home incredibly therapeutic,” Matt said.
Given the amount of work on Matt’s plate, it’s difficult to believe he has the time to cook at home. He is the co-owner of a number of highly successful restaurants including ARIA Sydney, ARIA Brisbane, CHISWICK, Opera Bar, Riverbar & Kitchen, North Bondi Fish and in addition, he and his business partner Peter co-own ARIA Catering – an event company based in Sydney, Brisbane & exclusively at the Sydney Opera House. He has published four cookbooks and spends a fair amount of time on the road filming his TV show Paddock to Plate. He also happens to be a father of two.
“Generally Sunday nights are about me cooking dinner at home and hanging out with the family. The kids are very supportive of what I do and they are at a great age where they want to come to restaurants and do things with me,” he said.
