Simply hearing the word money can trigger strong emotions in a lot people. Stress. Anxiety. Worry. Frustration. These are some of the common responses to the topic of money.
People with not enough money worry about paying their bills. People with plenty of money worry about losing it, or whether they are using it in the best possible way. People with enough to get by worry about not being able to have more, and provide more for their families.
Feeling anxious about money has nothing to do with the amount of money that’s in your bank account. It can affect us all but it doesn’t have to be this way. Whatever your current situation with money may be, there is a way to ease any anxiety you have around money and to change your financial reality to something greater.
Would you like to know the secret? It’s actually quite simple. When you choose to be you, a ripple effect reaches out into all aspects of your life – including your personal finances. Being truly, deeply, authentically you creates a sense of ease around money and helps you create greater wealth.
You are the gift, the change and the contribution that the world requires and, when you are being you, everything in your life becomes easier and greater.
Here are my top 3 tips on having ease with money:
- Money follows joy
We come into the world with a sense of joy, of playfulness, of possibility. It’s actually who we are. It doesn’t take long before the people around us tell us that we are too happy, too loud, too much. Many of us take this message, decide it must true, conclude we must be wrong and then do everything we can to make ourselves small, to quiet ourselves down, to match the unhappiness of everyone around us. We give ourselves up to try to fit into other people’s realities and in so doing, we cut off our joy.
Funny thing about money. Money follows joy. Joy does not follow money. We often pursue money thinking that once we have enough, we will be happy. It’s not actually true. Choose joy. Be joy. Be YOU. Live your life as a joyful celebration and money will follow you.
- Change your perspective on money
Points of view about money are everywhere. How much is too much? How much is too little? What is ok to spend money on? What is not ok to spend money on? How much savings is enough? The list goes on. The list is endless.
Our points of view create our reality. What does that mean? That means when you decide something is so, it is so. For example, if you have the point of view that you have to work hard for money, you will have to work hard for every penny that you attract into your life.
When you are being you, you don’t have points of view. When you are being you, you don’t judge. When you are being you, you have total allowance for everyone and everything.
When you notice that you have a point of you about money, one of the quickest and easiest ways to change it is to say “Interesting point of view. I have that point of view.” As you say this, the points of view that you have been holding on to become simply interesting. This makes them easy to let go of.
- The willingness to receive
Regardless of your current money situation, you do not have a money problem. There is no such thing as a money problem. There is only a problem with your willingness to receive. When you are unwilling to receive money, you have to spend it as fast as it comes in
You might have heard the saying, “Ask and you shall receive.” Have you ever truly asked for money? Have you ever truly been willing to receive it? Receiving is simply being willing to allow money to come into your life with ease. It has nothing to do with deserving. It has nothing to do with working hard. It has nothing to do with anything other than your willingness to have it.
Take a deep breath. Do you breathe in air because you deserve it? Do you have to work hard enough so that you can store up air so there’s enough when you need it? No. You breathe because you can and there is never a shortage. What if receiving money could be as easy as breathing? It can. The question is, will you allow it to be?
Practice saying, “All of life comes to me with ease and joy and glory.” Say it ten times in the morning and ten times at night. Allow the ease of money to be your reality.
When you are being you, you are the joyful, playful space of possibilities. When you are being you, you are willing to receive everything. When you are being you, you are the invitation that money cannot refuse. Choose to be you and you will discover a new sense of ease with money.
