I was sitting in a meeting the other day when the subject of holidays came up…think we were procrastinating before getting down to business. I was talking about how with our myriad of different personalities we tend to migrate to the holidays that reflect our sense of adventure, or in some cases, lack thereof.
I have friends who love nothing more than putting on hiking boots and gearing up for a heavy-duty mountain trek in some faraway location, or others who explore culturally challenging destinations both in terms of access and friendliness of the locals. That sounds too much like hard work for me. I’m more your hot sun, blue water kind of gal. Loving nothing more than to discover and learn about where I’m hanging my hat, with a focus on fine food and wine…and if there’s a few golf courses nearby, then you’ve got me.
It might be a matter of perception, could I enjoy backpacking my way around scenic mountains, sucking in pure air, and listening to…silence? Doubt it. But how do you know what you’ll enjoy if you never give it a go.
